Recovery is A Word Meaning – No Thing

What is Recovery? First of all the word is recovery. Recovery – the word was used in the late 80s to refer to the lifestyle people who were doing to changing their lives. Changing their lives for the better by addressing and dealing with addictions, dysfunctional living troubled living. Living unwell. And changing ones life for the better takes deciding to do the work AND understanding where you actually are AND where you are coming from AND how and where you want to go… so it is not just simply saying “I want to quit drinking or drugging or whatever fugged-up behavior!”

You still following? What are your thoughts.

So a person would have enough of “their” shit life and choose to get help from the stress of living troubled. So this person would seek-out and find help from another person. This person would be a counselor or therapist. They would begin to have someone to begin to learn to talk to… someone who just might be able to help them begin to understand their “life situation” and help them ease their “pain” or begin to find an escape from their “misery”. So the talking road begins.

And usually from their “helper counselor or therapist” – would refer their “client” to get more support. Not just them. They would be “told” to attend a a self-help group. Because helping an addict or someone with long history and years of living distorted and disturbed – will be a whole hellofalota crueling confusing work. So much of it – is too much for one person to take on and do alone. A plan must be introduced outright to make “RECOVERY” change more possible with the use of many resources.

So this person – the client would be referred to a group.

Keep in mind RECOVERY PEOPLE gathered and still gather in groups and could claim to be in “IN RECOVERY” because of this. In claiming to be in Recovery a person must working consistently and be COMMITTED and DEDICATED to working on change in “every aspect of life they do”… Being in Recovery referred and still does to a person who was going to 12 step meetings based on AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or ACA (Adult Children Anonymous) or Co-Dependents Anonymous (CODA) and other structured groups based on 12 steps or similar structured.

So is Recovery stopping or quitting a “Bad Habit”? Or is it – Learning to do life in a better way? Is Recovery just making some healing changes in your life? There are many aspects of *your* healing change that you need to understand or explore and educate your self on. For a Recovery to really take hold it is best for you to – to take into account as you work on change or stopping “bad” habits (I really don’t support used ignorant-loaded words such as GOOD or BAD) hea

This word RECOVERY is more a “buzz word” to many people now a days. Especially some old timers whose lives have become more troubled or chaotic or disturbed. Like trouble in raising children or in other relationships.

More sharing to come – Think of your present situation – your real true living style right now… how you are doing your present relationship in regards to making and keeping healthy living change – do this keeping in front of all your desires, ambitions and wants in becoming the person you want to look after your life – NOW!

Decide – Choose to use your true authentic self – use your honest thinking, your honest mind working straight and remember what went through while you were in deep trouble before choosing recovery.
